Hello, I'm Mike Bartholdy. I started Mountain Mike's Reproductions, LLC. I have done many European mounts made by boiling and bleaching, a process which you all know is reminiscent of a witch cooking in an old black cauldron. The hours of steam and the smell seemed to wake neighbors for miles around. Couple this with the increasing awareness of CWD and the regulations on transporting deer skulls to curb its spread. I decided there must be a better way.

Exact Reproduction Deer Skull Kits = The Goal

In my small shop, I started out to make exact reproduction deer skull kits that could easily be used and be universal for all antler mounting needs.

Injection Molded Antler Kits?

The only way I could make this work was to build injection molds. This type had never been done before. Scanning a freeform object and converting the data into CNC readable information, which had unpredictable mold parting lines, was a new and daunting task.

Antler Kits Get Support of Cabela's and Gander Mountain

Even in the prototype stage, we began educating companies of our work and what to expect in the near future. As a great show of interest and belief, Cabela's and Gander Mountain signed into vendor agreements even before we had gone into production.

New European Antler Mounting Kits "Break the Mold" by Using Molds

Early on, everyone I spoke with told me I was wasting my time and it couldn't be done.

Then I found Reynald Chaput. Working closely with the master mold maker of "Ideas in 3D", we began to try something that had never been done. With Reynald combining the latest digitizing technology with new mold making techniques, we completed the task.

Manufacturing

After an extensive search, we are proud to have partnered with Addick's Engineering and Astro Custom Injection Molding, Inc of Bell Gardens, California, to manufacture our products. Their volume capabilities, motivation, expertise and excitement to grow with us set them apart.

Antler Kits Gain Support from Michael Waddell and Ralph & Vicki Cianciarulo

Being an avid hunter and outdoorsman, I sought feedback from people I greatly respect in the industry while developing these products.

Ralph and Vicki of Archer's Choice Media have been, and continue to be a great help. We hit it off so well that we signed into a long term agreement for them to promote the "Skull Master" and the "Shed Spreader" models.

I began talking with Gregg Ritz during the design stage for the "Record Keeper" model. His belief in this new product brought Michael Waddell, another person of which I have great admiration for, and us together. Michael and I felt this product was a perfect match for his new signature series of products and TV show, "The Bone Collectors". It soon became the "Bone Collector Record Keeper" as we entered into a long term agreement with him as well.

We are extremely fortunate to have people of this caliber and integrity working with us.

Well, it's taken three years of research and development, along with every penny my wife and I could find, but we have brought to the market three new patented reproduction deer skull antler mounting kits.

The Future of European Skull Antler Mounting Kits

We are committed to future growth. We are developing new products in our European mounting line. New this year is our Elk kits. In the works are antelope and others. With continued sales and success, we will be able to aggressively move forward with these additions.
